Quick answer
Turbo Surfacing installs artificial grass, poured in place rubber, epoxy floors and polished concrete in Fullerton for homeowners, schools, churches and associations. We are licensed, bonded and insured, we respond within 24 hours, and we plan around homes built in the 1960s, warm summers and a large student population.

- About 140,970 residents and a median home built in 1969.

Fullerton is an older north Orange County city of about 141,000 people, home to Fullerton College and a mix of historic neighborhoods, apartments and suburban tracts. The median home was built in 1969, and summers are warm and dry.
Turbo Surfacing serves Fullerton with more than 15 years of installation experience. This page looks at what public data says about Fullerton homes, weather and open space, and why age is the most useful fact when you choose a surface.
OpenStreetMap records Bastanchury Park and Saint Philip Benizi School as named local features; these map references are not Turbo project claims or confirmation of current public access. For Fullerton work, confirm who controls access at the actual address before placing a park or school closure on the calendar.

One of the older housing stocks in Orange County
The Census Bureau's 2024 five year estimates count about 140,970 people in roughly 48,120 households. Owners occupy 51.8 percent of them, and the median home was built in 1969.
Age changes the work. Slabs poured in the 1960s often have more than hairline cracks. We see settled garage aprons, oil saturated floors and patios patched several times. Fixing those starts with grinding and crack repair, followed by a coating or a polished finish. Landscaping is the other age issue. Many Fullerton lawns have been replanted over the decades, and old irrigation lines leak. Replacing a tired lawn with artificial grass lets owners cap or abandon aging irrigation in that area.
Because roughly half of Fullerton households rent, we also work for landlords and property managers who want a durable yard that survives turnover without weekly care.
Warm summers, some real heat
NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals give Fullerton an average July high near 84 degrees, about 39 days a year at or above 90 degrees, and roughly 12 inches of rain. The city is about 13.5 miles from the coast, so it gets less ocean cooling than Huntington Beach or Newport Beach.
That heat shapes our advice. Turf warms in direct sun, so we choose lighter blends and talk through shade for play areas and patios. Dark rubber surfaces get hot, so mixed, lighter colors are better in full sun. Epoxy coatings handle heat well, and a garage floor that bakes in the afternoon stays stable. For all three surfaces, we build a compacted, well drained base, because storms are infrequent but strong.
A college town with schools and congregations
OpenStreetMap lists about 38 schools, including Fullerton College, plus 39 places of worship and 2 child care sites. Mapped parks include Hillcrest Park, Independence Park, Craig Regional Park and Beechwood Park, among about 56 parks. The playground count is lower, at about 31.
Campuses and churches often need work around calendars. We schedule rubber and floor work for school breaks, weekday evenings or weekends, depending on the site. A church hall floor can be prepared and coated over several days. A school play surface can be poured over a break and open for use afterward.
For child care, Title 22, section 101238.2 requires licensed centers to cushion the area under and around climbing equipment. Send your equipment list and we will recommend a surface thickness that matches the tallest platform. Publicly funded work follows prevailing wage rules, and we can provide documentation for bid packages.
Landlords, apartments and student housing
Fullerton has a large renter population, and landlords have different needs from owner occupants. They want a surface that holds up when no one cares for it, that cleans easily between tenants and that does not generate repairs. Artificial grass answers the yard problem. Epoxy garage floors and polished concrete answer the floor problem.
We write scopes that list the base depth, edge detail, turf or coating specification and a cleaning guide, so property managers can hand a one page maintenance sheet to each new tenant. That documentation also helps the next manager know exactly what is underneath.
Older neighborhoods need careful work
Fullerton has historic neighborhoods with mature trees, narrow driveways and original concrete. Roots lift slabs and clog old irrigation, and we plan around them. For turf, we remove the lawn, cut back surface roots only as far as needed and install a root barrier or leave a tree well so the tree is not harmed. For concrete, we repair lifted sections or recommend replacement before coating, because a coating cannot hold a slab that is still moving.
Narrow driveways and shared walls make access a real question in older neighborhoods. We walk the route from the street to the work area during the site visit, plan material staging so neighbors are not blocked, and keep the work area swept and tidy at the end of every day.
If your home is in a neighborhood with a design review process, send us a photo and we will help you prepare a sample board and a clear description of the surface, which usually moves approvals along.
Water service and turf programs
Fullerton's water comes from the City of Fullerton water utility. We have not confirmed a current turf replacement program, so ask the utility what applies to your address.
Rebate programs generally pay for replacing lawn with plants, and artificial grass is usually a separate decision for the areas where people and pets actually use the ground.
